Management Alert Group, L.L.C.

A 501(c) 3 Non-profit California Corporation

Founded in 1988

Dedicated to providing safe living environments for the rental & housing industry.

As owners and property managers in San Diego Phil Bonham and Scott Silverman continually had to deal with drug and crime-related problems on their properties.  They believed there was a better way to more effectivley deal with these problems by getting other owners and city agencies involved and coming up with long range solutions.

In 1988, they formed a 501 (c) 3 non-profit corporation called Management Alert Group, Ltd. It was formed for the purpose of interacting with governmental agencies such as the San Diego Housing Commission, the San Diego Police Department, San Diego County Board of Supervisors, HUD, San Diego City Council, San Diego City Attorney Code Enforcement Unit, and numerous other local and regional entities.

This website contains a history of activities by Management Alert Group, Ltd. showing how my partner, Scott Silverman and I, became highly involved in the rental housing market in San Diego.  Our primary goal was providing clean and safe rental housing for San Diegans, especially those involved in Section 8 housing.  We did not act as law enforcement, or “drug-busters” as our only goal was to be sure that tenants had clean and safe housing where drug and crime-related activity was not tolerated.

Management Alert was primarily an educational entity engaged in helping to educate owners and managers of rental housing where there was significant drug and crime-related problems and provided seminars to the San Diego Board of Realtors, the San Diego Apartment Association, the San Diego Police Department POP program, and worked with the San Diego Housing Commission and San Diego City College teaching classes to train managers. Phil Bonham and Scott Silverman were also co-chairs of the San Diego Apartment Association Drug Abatement Task Force.

This corporation is still in existence, however Scott Silverman left to form the nationally recognized Second Chance Program in San Diego.

In Nevada, Management Alert Group is involved in the real estate services area, specifically managing financially and physically distressed properties, workouts for lending institutions, acting as or working with receivers, serving institutional and private investors and providing comprehensive programs for “turn-around” properties using proven and aggressive management techniques. Additionally Management Alert Group, Ltd. is uniquely suited to deal with Section 8 and HUD properties.
